Funeral Service for Abelardo “J.D.” Davila Jr. will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Brownfield Funeral Home with Ruben Cruz officiating. Viewing will be from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Brownfield Funeral Home.
J.D. was born on September 10, 1950, to Abelardo Davila Sr and Sirilda Barrientez Davila in Karnes City, TX. He passed away on September 3, 2025, at the age of 74.
J.D.’s children were the center of his universe, and he embraced the role of "number one dad" with enthusiasm and warmth. His legacy will continue through his children and grandchildren, who will forever carry his love in their hearts.A man of many passions, J.D. enjoyed 27 years working at Needmore Gin, where he learned gin talk and taught everyone how to speak it. He found joy in music and singing, and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys until Patrick Mahomes joined the Kansas City Chiefs. He relished every moment spent cheering for his team. Whether playing dominoes or poker with friends, he fostered connections that brought laughter and camaraderie. His love for farming and riding horses reflected his deep appreciation for the land and a life well-lived.
J.D.’s passing leaves an indelible void in the lives of those who knew him, and his contributions to the community will not be forgotten. His warm spirit and generous heart touched many lives, making the world a brighter place.
J.D. is preceded in death by his wife, Alicia Davila; parents, Abelardo and Sirilda B. Davila; daughter, Jessica Castellano; grandson, Luka Amador. J.D. is survived by his sons, Lalo and wife Monica of Sanger, Mikey and wife Angie of Port Authur, Julian and wife Lindsay Flores of Taylor, and Mason of Meadow; daughters, Sara Martinez and husband Isaac of Lubbock, Katlen Davila and husband Nathan of Lubbock, and Priscilla Vigil and husband Luis of Seattle, WA.; siblings, Geneva Bustillos of Meadow, Santos and wife Maria of Brownfield, Gloria Castilleja of Meadow, Jamie Jacquez and husband Simon of Brownfield, Maggie Longoria and husband Ramiro of Brownfield, Sylvia Gonzales and husband Jesse of Brownfield, Elvira Rosales of Brownfield, and Santiago Davila and wife Elva of Meadow; 5 grandchildren, Brian, Analise, Ayden, Elias, Zayden, Luis Javier; 2 great-grandchildren, Cyrus and Elaine Torres.
