Abraham Cruz, 47, beloved Spouse, Father, and Son, was called to his eternal resting place on February 2, 2025. He entered this world on March 4, 1977, in New York, NY, born to Abraham and Maria Cruz. He is survived by his spouse Melissa Cruz; his daughters Kayla, Jazmin, Isabel Cruz, sister Milagros Cruz, aunt Miguelina Rivera, and his mother Maria Cruz. Abraham served in the NYPD from September 2000- October 2020. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, 12:00 - 3:30 pm. at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home.
Abraham's childhood dream was to become a police officer for the NYPD. He graduated with a bachelors degree in Police Science from John Jay College in May of 2000. He entered the police academy September 28th, 2000. Abraham always took the opportunity to learn and rank up in the department. He made detective May 19th, 2008 and shortly after made sergeant on June 2nd, 2014. Abraham retired from the NYPD October 30th, 2020.
Abe was always there to lend a helping hand to family, friends and even strangers. Abe was the definition of an amazing human being. He adored his family and was quick to make any sacrifices necessary to support them. He was a beacon of compassion with a humble spirit.
There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in our hearts.
