Katherine Elizabeth Johnston, age 73, of Clermont, Florida, passed away peacefully on

October 1st, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on October 9, 1951, in Live

Oak, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Rebecca Fletcher.

Kathy was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Danny Johnston, with whom she

shared 44 years of a deep and enduring marriage. Their bond was one of unwavering

love, and together they built a life filled with cherished memories.

In addition to her husband, Kathy is survived by her sister, Charlotte Schluraff, and her

brother-in-law Jim, whose support and love meant the world to her. She was

predeceased by her parents and her brother, Tommy, and her precious niece Carmen.

Kathy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and strength that will be

remembered by all who knew her. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and

cousins who will miss her deeply.

Kathy and Danny spent most of their married life in California, where Kathy served as

the director of a child development center at Camp Pendleton for 30 years. During her

career, she touched countless lives, providing care and guidance to children and their

families.

Kathy made everyone she encountered feel like family, offering love, comfort, and

counsel to those in need. Her faith and unwavering strength were a guiding light to all

who were fortunate enough to know her. Kathy also had a passion for crochet projects,

which she shared with her family as lasting gifts. Kathy and Danny retired and moved to

Florida in 2017, and they immediately joined First Baptist Orlando and became an

integral part of the Alzheimer's Caregiver Support ministry, her bible study and her Life

Group.

Her love for the beach, animals, and, of course, her beloved Florida State Seminoles

were also an important part of her life. She was a proud FSU graduate of the Class of

1973; she was an avid fan and a true Seminole through and through.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 10am in the Marie

Williams Chapel on the First Baptist Orlando's campus. Also, on Thursday, October 16th

, there will be a service in her hometown at 11am at O'Brien Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Orlando

Alzheimer's Caregiver Support ministry in her memory.
