Abe Sackler, 97 years of age, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. He was an only child, born in New York City. He was the son of the late Phillip and Freida Sackler. He leaves his daughter Felicia Connors and her husband Dennis, his daughter Susan Reuben and her husband Jonathan. He also leaves his son David as well as his granddaughter, Kayla Reuben.
Abe was a WWII veteran who served in the Army and received a Purple Heart for his heroic efforts. It is with a heavy heart that we remember him and the cheerful attitude that he always had. He would always look forward to the beautiful sunny days. He loved to jog and be with his family and friends. He was a very caring person and always willing to help his children. He enjoyed investing, jogging, vacations and being with family and friend. Early on in his life he lived on the Lower East Side with his family. He had various jobs until he found the one he really liked which was teaching. He graduated from Long Island University with a teaching degree and taught elementary education in 3rd and 4th grades for 40 years. It was in the school that he worked where he met his wife, Sally. He was very proud to be able to purchase a new home in Kings Park, NY where he lived for over 60 years with his wife and family. Sally preceded him, passing away in 2011. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Temple Beth Torah Cemetery (Jordan Lane Extension in Wethersfield, Ct) with Rabbi Alan Lefkowitz officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
