Ada Mae Barrett, age 84, passed away on August 28, 2024. Born August 5, 1940 in Delbarton, WV to the late Henry and Helen Baisden.
Ada, who was from the heart of Appalachia, enjoyed being a homemaker and was a wonderful cook. She grew flowers and vegetables, and those vegetable were canned and preserved like her hot peppers and bread and butter pickles. She loved to host Thanksgiving and Christmas and spend time with her kids and grandkids, as well as host poker nights on the weekends for friends and family.
Ada is preceded in death by husband, William P. Barrett; daughter, Paula Ratcliff; and grandchildren, Jessie Sexton, Earl Barrett II, Chasidy Barrett, and Ashley Stockton.
Ada is survived by daughters, Pam Sexton and Kathryn (Deacon) Pope, sons, W. Todd (Cathy) Barrett and Earl Grumpy (Tara) Barrett; & Vicie Moore; sister, Betty; brothers, Doug and Sam; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, several great great grandchild, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2024, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at O. R. Woodyard South Chapel, 1346 S. High St. where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am. Interment Obetz Cemetery. The family would also like to extend a special thank you for the care Ada received to the 5th floor staff at Fairfield Medical Center.
