Cranston, RI - Adam J. Bernardo, 40, who suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm on May 8 while riding his bicycle on Wellington Avenue, died Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Providence, a beloved son of Robert A. Bernardo and the late Valerie P. Clark, he was the brother of the late Jason R. Bernardo.
For more than ten years Adam worked in passenger services and as a security officer at T.F. Green Airport employed last by Allied Universal Security Services.
Adam loved his two children with all his heart. He also loved his dog Jinks who was his constant companion. He often told stories of the elderly people he would meet at the airport and asked about their life; he genuinely cared about what they had to say and respected them for the tales they would share. He enjoyed researching any and all things about WWII. He spent many hours asking both of his grandfathers about their experiences during the war. He was an avid reader of non-fiction as well as espionage fiction. He will be remembered as a young man who had a gentle and kind soul.
In addition to his father, Robert A. Bernardo (whose partner is Jacqueline Feirouz), Adam is survived by his wife Crystal (McGlynn) Bernardo and his two children Adara and Lowgin Bernardo. He was the nephew of Jacqueline Connelly, Janet Elman, Theresa Mulligan, Linda A. Schayer, and Diane L. Clark, and is survived also by many cousins.
A funeral service will be held at The Church of The Ascension, 370 MAIN STREET, WAKEFIELD, on Monday, May 16 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Adam's memory be made to ALZHEIMER`S RESEARCH FOUNDATION, 620 Sea Island Road, Suite 324, St. Simons Island, GA 31522 (www.alzheimersresearchfoundation.com).
Immediately following the burial, condolences may be offered to the family at a memorial gathering held in Fellowship Hall at The Church of the Ascension. Condolences may also be offered to the family and remembrances of Adam shared online at www.carpenterjenks.com.
