Adam Michael Buro, 45, passed away at Reston Hospital Center, Reston, VA on November 28, 2024. Born on March 5, 1979, in Port Jefferson, NY, Adam lived in Virginia for most of his life.
Throughout his life, Adam loved the outdoors, mostly activities involving water. He referred to himself as an "aquaholic," which fit him perfectly. From swimming to kayaking, canoeing, boating, jet skiing, and fishing, he loved the water; it is where he found peace and serenity.
After graduating from Hylton High School, Dale City, VA, in 1997, Adam attended Longwood University, Farmville, VA, graduating in 2001 and was a founding father of their Sigma Nu chapter, establishing lifelong friends with his fraternity brothers.
While working in the mortgage industry, Adam met the love of his life, Amy, always referred to as Awesome Amy. They were married on October 1, 2005, and their family grew with the arrival of 4 beautiful children. Adam was a devoted father and enjoyed teaching them about his love for the outdoors, especially the flowers and trees in his yard and his beautiful lawn, which he tried to make the envy of the block.
Adam found his dream job as an internal auditor with the Inspector General's Office of the Department of Homeland Security. He enjoyed the challenge of the work, the opportunity to travel, and working with his coworkers, and he was deeply committed to the organization's goals.
In keeping with Adam's loving and generous spirit, he chose to be an organ donor so that others might live. He was honored with a Hero's Walk at the hospital, where family and staff gathered to recognize his precious gift of life. Even after death, Adam's legacy of giving continues, as his donation will touch the lives of many families.
Left to mourn his passing are his four children, Lily Buro, Ryan Buro, Julie Buro, and Damon Buro; his parents, Jill-Ann and Michael Buro from Wallace, NC; his sister Caitlin Buro and her husband Travis King from Atlanta, GA; his mother-in-law Nancy Lindsay from Herndon, VA, his constant furry companion Caydee, and a host of loving family and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Amy Lindsay Buro, on October 2, 2024. The family is holding a funeral service to celebrate Adam's life on December 14, 2024, at 11 am at Money and King Funeral Home, Vienna, VA. A reception will follow at the Vienna Moose Lodge, 9616 Courthouse Road, Vienna, Va.
