Addie Sirena Baskerville was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, friend, and nurse, affectionately known as "Sis, Aunt Addie, and Addie Bear." She peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
Addie was born in Newport News, Virginia, on July 7, 1968, to the late William and Elizabeth Baskerville. She was preceded in death by her sister, Octavia Hicks-Motley, and brother, Alvin Wardell Hicks.
She received her formal education from the Newport News Public School System, graduating from Menchville High School in 1986, where she was a part of Menchville High School's Air Force JROTC and the Varsity Track Team. After graduating high school, Addie chased her dream of becoming a nurse. In January 2001, she graduated from Medical Careers Institute and became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Always striving to do her best, Addie earned an Associate in Applied Science degree from the Helene Fuld College of Nursing in 2013, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the Chamberlin College of Nursing with President's Honors in 2014, became a Registered Nurse (RN), and then earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Chamberlin University in 2020. Addie devoted her life and service as a missioner of health to all of her patients, maintaining the high ideals of the nursing profession until God called her home.
Addie was a natural comedian who kept people rolling in laughter because she could find humor in the most ordinary life circumstances. Her laugh was infectious, and her spirit was captivating. She was a kindhearted woman with a caring nature; anyone who truly knew her knew she loved fiercely and deeply and would give you anything, even if it was her last. Addie will be remembered as a selfless, fearless, and inspiring woman, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who lived life to the fullest, and we take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace with our Lord and Saviour.
Addie leaves to cherish her memories: her sisters, Sheila Suber, Sonji Nettles, and Tammy Baskerville; brothers, Larry Spragley, Patrick Spragley, Alphonso Nettles (Ify), William Baskerville (Mary), Tracy Baskerville, and Bruce Baskerville (Carol); nieces and nephews; Talecia Baskerville (Cherise), Shanika Baskerville, Se'era Spragley Ricks (Justin), Khiry Baskerville (Armanda), Kortez Baskerville, Breon Baskerville, Craig Long Jr., Devonis Nettles, and Alphonso Nettles Jr.; great-nieces and nephews, Shan Douglas Jr., Kamaree Douglas, Troy Holley Jr., Lyric Elizabeth Holley, Kendrick Baskerville, Kane Baskerville, and Craig Long III; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends, whom she loved.
Viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2022 at Bethel Temple Church. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
