Addis A. Desmond

Addis A. Desmond II, age 63, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on November 21, 1961, in Charleston, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Necola C. Lowe and Addis A. Desmond I.
A devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Addis is survived by his children, Elijah C. Desmond (Catherine F. Desmond), Addis A. Desmond III and Chazera Jester; and his cherished grandchildren, Addis A. Desmond IV, Chloe G. Desmond, Carly G. Desmond, and Timothy Hill III. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Mona J. Pointe-Jour (David Pointe-Jour), Cheryl A. Desmond, Tammie L. Carter, Twila K. Clark (Joseph A. Clark), and Mardez Desmond Wheatley (Akeem M. Wheatley).
Addis was well known in the city of Canton and will be remembered for his generous spirit and deep commitment to the community. He facilitated the Brick City Reunion as well as garnered the "Man of the Year" award. Whether through acts of service or quiet generosity, he always gave back and uplifted those around him.
Addis faced many years of health challenges with unwavering courage and strength. In his final days, he made the personal decision to spend his remaining time at home, surrounded by family and friends. He was cared for and comforted by those who loved him most, a testament to the life he lived and the love he inspired.
Strong in his faith and passionate about life, Addis pursued many ventures throughout his lifetime. He pursued both cosmetology and barber school, turning his creativity and ambition into reality.
Addis was an entrepreneur at heart, owning several businesses including Addis's Landscaping, Clearview Group Home, and Addis the Baddest Hair and Beauty Salon. He also had a love for travel and cherished spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
His legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to live on through his family and all those who had the honor to know him. Leaving his memory to cherish through family, friends, and all who had the privilege to cross his path. Addis will be greatly missed by all.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON Chapel (801 Pittsburg Ave. NW, North Canton, OH 44720) with a service to follow at 1:00 PM.
