Adelaide K. Spock, 97, our cherished Aunt, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family September 19, 2025, Albany, NY.
Adelaide was born in Massena, NY, January 17, 1928. She attended St. Mary's Catholic school in Massena and Massena Public High School. Ms. Spock was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Rose (Medwid) Spock of Massena.
Adelaide resided in Glens Falls, NY working at the Continental Insurance Company. She was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church in Glens Falls, and after retirement in1992, she assisted as a volunteer within the parish. She was a doting Aunt and very close to her family, and her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with them. Adelaide loved to travel and enjoyed several trips throughout the U.S. and Europe. Our Aunt was always available at a moment's notice to help in any situation; she thought of others before herself, and was well known for her gentle and sweet demeanor. Adelaide also had a dry sense of humor, and we all agree, she was a masterful yarn spinner. Our family is grateful for the many treasured memories created with her over the years.
Adelaide was preceded in death by her siblings: Mary C. Payment (Henry) Glens Falls; Rose A. Bradley (George) Staten Island; Anna K. Scalzo (Frank) Ravena; Andrew T. Spock (Margaret) Albany; Michael C. Spock (Reine) Massena.
She is survived by her cherished nieces and nephews who were actively involved in her life: Francine Scalzo Greenfield; Julia Bradley Werner; Mary Bradley MacDonald; Michael J. Scalzo, Frank M. Scalzo. She is also survived by several loving grand-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many great-grands.
We wish to thank the physicians, nurses, social worker, and staff at Daughters of Sarah Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Albany, NY for their care, compassion, vigilance, and special attention they provided our aunt. A special thank you to Fatima Blue for the friendship, care, and frequent visits throughout Adelaide's later years in Glens Falls and Albany.
There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside Service and Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Massena, NY on Wednesday September 24, 2025 at 10 a.m. A celebration of Adelaide's life will be held at a later date at the family's convenience.
