Adele Rita De Vivo (nee Guadagno), 90, of Jackson, NJ, formerly of Staten Island, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 3, 2025 surrounded
by her loving family.
Born on August 11, 1934 in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late
Joseph and Pasqualena Guadagno (nee Illuzzi). She was raised in Brooklyn and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe School before beginning her career at
American Casualty Company in Manhattan.
It was at Johnny Red's Pizzeria that she met Joseph De Vivo and the love story began. They married on February 2, 1957 and were married for 65 years until his passing in 2022.
Adele dedicated her life to raising her four children in Staten Island always encouraging their individual interests whether it was scouting events, school
activities or music lessons for her sons (Joseph playing keyboard, Christopher playing guitar and Gregory playing drums).
Her most cherished memories included time spent at the Jersey shore with her husband and children. She was especially fond of Lavallette and eating at The
Sawmill in Seaside Park (her absolute favorite meal being sausage and peppers).
Adele is survived by her four children: sons Joseph A. De Vivo and wife Emily Gordon; Christopher De Vivo and his lady Siobhan O'Brien, and Gregory De
Vivo, and daughter Denise Bertola. She was also the loving grandmother of Jessica DiVirgilio, Joseph W. De Vivo, Jamie Miller, Frankie Bertola and Angelica
Zimmerman; and great-grandmother of Michael and Nicholas DiVirgilio, Brooke and Haley Miller, and Brooks Bertola. She was the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her late husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Alfonso Guadagno.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 7th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Hanley Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass on Wednesday, January 8th at 10:00 am at St. Patrick's Church, Richmondtown.
