Adeline McAdams
August 30, 1924 – November 16, 2022
Adeline Rust McAdams was welcomed home to heaven on November 16, 2022, at the age of 98.
She was born in New Braunfels, Texas, on August 30, 1924, to Clara and George Rust.
Her early years were spent on a beautiful Hill Country ranch on the Blanco River near Fischer, Texas.
She rode five miles to and from Fischer Store School, a two-room schoolhouse across from the historic Fischer Store – first in a buggy with her two older sisters, and when she was old enough, on her very own horse. She loved horses and wearing boots and cowgirl hats she was always a ranch cowgirl at heart!
When her father sold the ranch on the Blanco River, the family lived in New Braunfels for several years before moving to Wimberley, where Adeline resumed "ranch life" and graduated Salutatorian of her Wimberley High School senior class in 1941.
After attending business school, she worked for the International News Service at the capitol building in Austin as a teletypist during World War II. She relocated with the news service to Dallas after the war.
There in Dallas, Adeline met the love of her life, Huland McAdams, "Mack."
They were married November 8, 1947, and lived in Austin and Liberal, Kansas, before relocating to San Antonio, where she lived the remainder of her life.
Adeline was a kind, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to being a wonderful homemaker, known for cooking and baking – especially her fabulous pies and fruit cobblers.
She was an avid dancer, and she loved cats, rodeos, fishing, yardwork, gardening, and traveling with her husband, as well as spoiling her grandchildren.
She and Mack faithfully attended the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd for more than 50 years, where they were active in evangelism within the community.
Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, brother Woodrow Rust, sisters Thelma Pape and Lucille Morris, and husband Huland.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Keller, and son-in-law, Erwin Keller; grandson, Kyle Keller, and granddaughter Kristin Hardi and husband James Hardi; six great-grandchildren, Elijah Keller, David Keller, Gloria Keller, Danielle Keller, Jillian Hardi and Rebecca Hardi, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South.
