Adelio Gilbert Fernandez February 16, 2026
Adelio was born in Rio Lucio on June 12, 1941 to the late Felix Fernandez and Aurora Mascarenas Fernandez. After high school he worked in many fields, first as a firefighter and then on many highway projects in New Mexico, Colorado and Oregon, working on bridges and tunnels. He worked on heavy offroad equipment on many earthen Reservoirs in New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. He also worked in several mines, mining for uranium, molybdenum, and gold, in New Mexico, Colorado and Nevada.
He was the founder of ABC Lock and Safe Co and started in 1978 and opened the shop in 1981, he was a Certified Master Locksmith and Safe Technician. Adelio married the love of his life Flora R. Fernandez in June of 1962, they were married for 54 years, having 5 sons and 1 daughter.
He and Flora loved to travel, taking several wonderful trips to Europe and also traveling all over the US and Canada. Adelio loved the outdoors, he enjoyed camping and hunting, but fishing was his passion, he went on many trips to the Pacific Northwest to Oregon, Washington and British Colombia, his favorite fishing destination was Alaska fishing alongside his sons and grandsons. He literally would out fish anyone.
Adelio was a God-fearing man, he held dear to his heart God's promise of living forever on a paradise earth, he loved to preach and teach the good news of Jehovah God's kingdom and share the message with many he came in contact with. He enjoyed building many Kingdom Halls in New Mexico, Colorado and Texas.
Adelio is survived by his brothers Franklin, Barolin, Felix Jr., Juan, and George; his sister's Carolina, Julianita, Endelesia; his son's Ben (Sandy), Chris, Isaac and Jeremiah; his grandsons, Devin, Darron (great-granddaughters Abbie, Adelyne, Amaya) and Aaron (Zadie), (and great-grandson Matias); as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 28th from 1-4pm at the Bataan Hall 121 Civic Plaza Drive Taos, NM
