LAS VEGAS—Ghebreigziabher Adhanom, age 91, from Dekemhare, Eritrea, passed away after declining health in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on July 19, 2025. Born on August 7, 1934, he is the son of Adhanom Habtemichael and Letteberhan Kidane. He was one of 10 children.
After completing primary school in Dekemhare, Ghebreigziabher finished his education at Asmara’s Comboni School.
He later worked as an administrator at the Ministry of Education for several years. Ghebreigziabher later transferred roles and served as the Head of Accounting and Administration for the Eritrean Province. In total, Ghebreigziabher worked more than 43 years in government and was widely known as an honest and hard worker who was dedicated to public service, his family, and his friends.
Ghebreigziabher married Asefash Ghebremedhin on November 9, 1954 in Segeneiti, Eritrea. They had three children. Following his retirement, the couple moved to the United States in 2003 to be near their children and grandchildren. Ghebreigziabher spent the last 22 years of his life in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ghebreigziabher is preceded in death by his parents, Adhanom and Letteberhan, his son Medhanie Ghebregziabher, and his son-in-law Habtemariam Negassi Tesfamichael.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Asefash Ghebremedhin, his children Asfaha Ghebreigziabher and Azieb Ghebreigziabher, and his grandchildren of whom he was so proud of for their academic and professional success: Negassi Habtemariam Tesfamichael, JD (Julia Loosen, MD), Daniel Ghebreigziabher, PharmD, and Dahlia Habtemariam Tesfamichael, MD.
A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 11am at Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church, 2120 S. Lindell Rd., Las Vegas. The burial will follow at Davis Funeral Home & Memorial Park at 6200 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas.
May God bless Ghebreigziabher’s soul as he enters eternal life. His family thanks everyone for their prayers and support.
