Obituary of Adrian Brown
Adrian C. Brown was born to Richard and Mable (Anderson) Brown on August 24, 1957, in Hempstead, NY. He grew up in Lakeview, NY where he attended Malverne Senior High School. After high school, he pursued a degree in Business Administration at Nassau Community College. Adrian later graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ashford University with a Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration.
In the spring of 1990, Adrian's friend, Brian Meacham, set him up on a blind date. He met his future wife, Laurie Brown (née Smith) and both of their lives changed forever. It was no ordinary date. It went from brunch to a long car ride that ended with dinner. Their amazing love grew and they married in 1993. They spent the next 30 years adoring, laughing, sharing, supporting, and protecting each other.
Adrian was a faithful man of God. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Peekskill (UMCP) serving on the Board of Trustees, and the Finance Committee and singing in the choir. Since 2016, Adrian has served as the president of the United Methodist Men's (UMM) ministry. In this role, he demonstrated the characteristics of a true servant leader – addressing the needs of the most vulnerable and encouraging others to follow suit. He established a weekly UMM meeting that provided an opportunity for men to not only grow in faith but also form friendships, mentor each other, and participate in Christ-centered service opportunities. For example, under Adrian's leadership, the UMM ministry began an outreach project to serve lunch at the Jan Peek homeless shelter on Saturdays. Adrian also began an initiative to create and distribute hygiene kits to benefit the guests of the shelter. He expanded his servant-leader role beyond the UMCP. Adrian envisioned a cooperative-wide men's ministry reaching the men from the eight local sister churches. His mission was to unite, encourage, and uplift other men of God. He was also a frequent participant in Tres Dias, a Christian community. Adrian built lasting relationships as he served as a leader and in support positions on many Tres Dias retreats over the years.
Those who followed Adrian on Facebook will be familiar with his #TrustGodineverysituation posts – daily scripture and devotion. What started as a personal devotion quickly became a ministry in itself, connecting friends and family through God's Word.
If you spent any time with Adrian, you know he was an avid sports fan. If it involved something rolled, bounced, batted, or tossed, he was watching. Many will recall hours of enthusiastic discussions about teams, players, trades etc.
Adrian will be remembered as a lifelong friend and brother to many. He was kind, steady, gentle, and fiercely loyal with an infectious laugh.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his wife Laurie Brown, his mother Mable Brown, his siblings Larry (Nona) Brown, Victoria Brown, Gwynne Meacham, Michael (Chrissy) Smith; his nieces and nephews, Winton Smith, Danielle Meacham, Alex Meacham, Rebecca Smith, Brittany Kumka, Rachel Meacham, Christopher Meacham and Gabriel Smith, Jade Pumphrey and a multitude of family and friends
Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington St Peekskill, NY 10566 on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Celebration of Life will be held at the United Methodist Church of Peekskill, on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
