Adrian Harmon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cook Brothers Funeral Directors and Cremations - Fairburn on Oct. 13, 2024.
Adrian Francis Harmon, also known as "Fulahni," was born on May 1, 1944, in Chester, PA, the eldest child of Samuel and Irma Harmon. From an early age, Adrian displayed a unique sense of style and confidence that set him apart.
A voracious reader, Adrian cultivated a deep appreciation for cultures and religions. He inherited his father's passion for news, social and political issues, and his mother's warm, smiling eyes, along with her proud Creole heritage.
After World War II, the Harmon family settled in Sharon Hill, PA. Adrian's childhood was filled with a love for art, music, singing, Boy Scouts, and various sports, in which he excelled.
Adrian attended Lincoln Elementary School in the Darby Township School system and graduated from Darby-Colwyn High School, where he stood out as an extraordinary athlete. He was gifted in track and field, football, baseball, and especially basketball, leading his team to the 1962-63 state championship. His exceptional sports career later earned him induction into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. Adrian went on to attend Central State College in Ohio, where he played on the basketball team.
In addition to his love for sports, Adrian had a lifelong passion for cars and worked as a welder for General Motors. He was also captivated by horses and the rich traditions of Black Cowboy culture, which became a distinctive part of his identity.
Adrian was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Irma Harmon and brother, Conyers Harmon. He is survived by his two sisters, Sonjia Stanton (Junious) and Myrna Cooper (Virgel), and his former wife, Carolyn Adams. Adrian leaves behind seven beloved children: Andrea Washington (Leone), Shawn Allen, Monica Edwards, Shelley Harmon, Adrian F. Harmon Jr. (Ishmael Harmon Abdul-Salaam) (Kimnese), Kendra Watson, and Kenya Ficklin (Greg). Adrian was a proud grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind his devoted companion, Viola Betty Tribbey, along with a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless loved ones and friends who will miss him dearly.
