Gale Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by E. F. Boyd & Son Funeral Home on Jan. 24, 2026.
Gale Susan (Wright) Brown was born on June 30, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the eldest of six children born to Raymond and Mary Elizabeth Wright.

From a young age, Gale was deeply rooted in her faith. She attended the Pentecostal Church of Christ, where she was baptized in Jesus' name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. A devoted and active member, Gale served as president of the church's young people's meetings and was known as a committed and enthusiastic teenager within the congregation.

Gale began working at an early age, demonstrating remarkable responsibility and foresight, including investing in property. She was also known for her impeccable sense of style, fashionable well before her time, and was often admired for how beautifully she dressed. Thoughtful and generous by nature, Gale truly had a giving heart.

Gale graduated from Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio, in June of 1965 and later pursued her passion for art, majoring in Art at Central State University. During her freshman year at Central State, she met Robert Brown, a junior from Cleveland, Ohio, and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. Their meeting marked the beginning of a budding romance. After Robert graduated from Central State University in June of 1968, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Gale returned home to Cleveland and earned certification in Portraiture from the Cleveland Institute of Art.

Gale and Robert fell in love and were united in holy matrimony on March 28, 1970. One year after their union, Gale was blessed with their first child, Robert Brown II, born on December 31, 1971. Robert Sr. was employed with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and later earned a Master of Arts degree from Case Western Reserve University and his second master's degree from Cleveland State University. Gale was employed as a clerk with the U.S. Navy Finance Department.

Gale and Robert were further blessed with two daughters: Angela Monique Brown, born April 5, 1976, and Kimberly Gale Brown, born August 15, 1978. All three children graduated from Warrensville Heights High School. Robert II earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and served nine years in the United States Army. Angela and Kimberly earned Bachelor of Science degrees from Central State University and, during their senior year, were both elected Miss Central State University and appeared in Ebony magazine. Angela continued her education, earning a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from Kent State University, and Kimberly earned a Master of Arts degree from the University of Dayton.

Gale was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren and found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She enjoyed lunch and dinner dates with family, watching movies, writing letters, mailing cards, and talking on the phone with loved ones. She had a beautiful way of giving, always sending you on your way with something to show her care. We hope that she felt the love and care in return and can now rest in God's eternal peace.

Gale was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Wright. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving mother, Mary Elizabeth Wright, age 98; her siblings, Raymond (Linda) Wright, Carol

(Clarence) Heater, Richard Wright, Jeffrey Wright, and Cheryl (Willie) Merritt; her devoted husband, Robert Brown Sr.; her children, Robert (Christina) Brown II, Angela (Terrell) Husband, and Kimberly Abdul Malik; and her seven grandchildren, Bobbi, Theadis, Taylor, Nasim, Zoe, Noelle, and Zaire, along with many other family members and loved ones who will forever hold her memory close.
