Agnes Braley Heckelman

Agnes Braley Heckelman, age 94, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday morning, November 5th, 2025.
She was born on March 27, 1931 in Rhodes, Iowa to the late Vernie and Florence (Failor) Schultz.
She attended Iowa State University after graduating from Humboldt High School in 1948. She met Loren W.Heckelman in Ashland, Ohio and they were married on June 23, 1956. Upon Loren's retirement from the US Air Force, they moved to the family farm in Milan Township in early 1968. She was a longtime member and supporter of the Milan American Legion Post 527, the Norwalk VFW Post 2743, the Milan Garden Club, the Firelands Herb Club, the Milan Rotary Club, and the Vacationland Sam's Camping Club Chapter #23.
Known as Braley to her family and the community, she is survived by her four children, Loren (Elena) Heckelman, Rex (Maricela) Heckelman, Curtis (Karen) Heckelman, and Lucy (Joe) Joiner; along with nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by cousins, Harlan (Joyce) Schultz of Iowa and MaryLou Stauffer of Milan; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Loren W. Heckelman; her sisters, Diane, Lucy, and Judith; and one grandson, Andrew Heckelman.
Her life had a deep and profound influence on her four children and countless other family members and friends. She is gone from our sight but shall never leave our hearts and minds.
Private memorial services will be arranged by the family at a later date. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting with arrangements.
