Irene was born on November 20, 1953 in Medina, OH to Carl and Delight (Furst) Heckelman.
Irene graduated from Edison High School in 1972. She married the love of her life, Lewis in 1977. She worked several different jobs, her most favorite serving as a third mate on a shrimp boat. Irene was active in the Milan Township Fire Department. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family especially her grandkids.
Irene is survived by her husband of 48 years, Lewis Kalin. She is also survived by her son, Nicholas (Jeanne) Kalin; two daughters, Lavonne Kalin and Samantha (Nicholas) Meyer; her mother, Delight Heckelman; grandchildren, Ivan, Lucas, Colette and Gisele Kalin, Alexandria and Rebecca Leber, Isabell Daily, Liliana and Adelynn Meyer; three sisters, Doris Gens, Susan Heckelman, and Anne Heckelman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her father, Carl Heckelman; Irene is preceded in death by her sister, Julie Petit and her brother-in-law, George Gens.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, August 8th, 2025 from 4 -7 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory - Milan Chapel, 1 South Main Street, Milan, Ohio 44846.
