Aileen Rogus Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chas. Verheyden, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Grosse Pointe on Jun. 24, 2025.
Aileen Marie (O'Donnell) Rogus, a beacon of love, strength and resilience, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025, at the age of 78 at her home in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. Aileen was born on August 24, 1946, to her parents, Joseph and Mae, in the very same building she went home to the Lord.
From the beginning, the center of Aileen's universe was her family and friends. She loved them all fiercely and unconditionally. She adored her little sister, Beth, and often recounted cherished memories of growing up with Beth and her parents, grandparents, cousins and extended family in Kramer Homes, as well as the shenanigans she engaged in with her dearest childhood friends, Mags and Moe.
Aileen was married to her one and only true love, Jerry, at the age of 19 and they settled and raised their family on a quaint little block in Algonac, where they established an extended family in their neighbors, with whom they made fun-filled and lasting memories. After the kids were grown, Aileen began working and travelling with Jerry, where, yet again, their extended family grew through experiences shared with co-workers.
Aileen encountered and overcame a great deal of adversity in her life. She lost her husband, Jerry, far too early in 2002. Shortly thereafter, she endured a series of health issues, ultimately leading to her gaining yet more family members in the staff and residents at American House, where she resided for nearly 10 years.
Aileen leaves a legacy of so many hearts touched and meaningful relationships made. Her kind, generous, loving and humble spirit touched people wherever she went. She was often the life of the party and left a lasting impression on those she met. Her absence from this world will be profound and felt by so many people.
Aileen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald Ernest Rogus (November 22, 2002) and her infant son, Joseph. Her spirit lives on her children, Brian (Gretchen) Rogus and Dawn (Paul) Aldighieri. She was the devoted, doting and proud grandmother of Kourtney (Ryan) Neuville, Owen (Melanie) Rogus, Ethan Rogus, Luc-Armand Aldighieri, and Maximilian Aldighieri and beaming great-grandmother to Theodore Neuville, Lena Rogus and baby boy Neuville arriving later this summer.
Aileen's kind, generous and loving spirit is a gift that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed and will be remembered forever with immense love and gratitude.
