Akiko Oyama, of St. George, Utah, 82 years old, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2023. She was born in Monterey, California, on June 12, 1941. She is survived by husband William Oyama, son, Kevin Oyama, sisters, Toshi Uyeda and Mary Shintani, and brother, Hiroaki (Jim) Shibasaki.
She was preceded by her son, Kelly Oyama (2004), and sisters, Kazuko French (1975), Terri Minami (2012), Kiyoko (Ko) Kadani (2016), and Rulyko (Ruby) Minemoto (2019).
Akiko was happily married to Willie for 69 years. She lovingly raised her sons Kevin and Kelly, and they shared many special times together. Akiko enjoyed family pets, and they had several furry friends during her lifetime. She really enjoyed socializing with people, her smile would light up the room, and she had a great laugh. She was one of the kindest people you would meet, and she never spoke badly of anyone. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held January 27, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary, 4300 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92113.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S Bluff St., St George, Utah.
