Alan Bauer Obituary

Bauer, Alan R.
EAST GREENBUSH - Alan Robert Bauer, 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on January 6, 2026.
Alan was born in Albany, N.Y., to Ruth Fuglein Bauer Perry and Frank H. Bauer Jr., and spent most of his life in East Greenbush, N.Y., a community he proudly called home. Growing up, he spent much of his time with his cousins, creating lifelong bonds, and cherished countless days at Caroga Lake and the family farm - places that shaped many of his fondest memories. He was a graduate of Columbia High School and went on to build a long and respected career in construction, contracting and painting.
Alan began his career at Heppy's, later working for Spancrete, Phelps Contracting and ultimately retiring from the Albany College of Pharmacy, concluding many years of dedicated service. He was a proud member of the Laborers International Union of North America Local 190. Alan was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in a job done right. He was an officer and longtime member of the Elks Club, an organization that reflected his commitment to community and camaraderie.
In addition to his parents, Alan was predeceased by his sisters, Judith Thoelen (Richard) and Marilyn Bauer.
Alan is survived by his former wives, Cathy Seibert and MaryAnne Bauer; his children, Kristy Bauer, Kimberly Van Vliet (Christopher), Kevin Bauer (former wife, Karen), Mickey Bauer (Allona), Ashley Worobey (Jonathan); and his stepchildren, Allyn Jones Jr. and Katie Bauer; as well as his grandchildren, Kaylie, Harrison, Kevin Jr., Hayden, Addison, Emily, Hudson, Henrik, and Tikka; brother, Frank Bauer (Joyce); and many nieces and nephews.
Above all else, Alan was devoted to his family. He was the biggest fan of every one of his children and grandchildren, doing his very best to never miss a game, event, or milestone. Whether on the sidelines, in the stands, or cheering from home, his support was constant and unmistakable. Strong and steady by nature, Alan was never shy about showing his love or expressing his emotions to those he cared about most.
Alan was a passionate Yankees and N.Y. Giants fan. He also enjoyed frequent trips to ValleyCat games with his family. He had a generous heart and was well known for insisting on paying the bill, often turning it into a friendly battle. For many years, he treasured family trips to Orange Lake. He also enjoyed frequent trips to Turning Stone, joking that he was making his donations.
Alan will be remembered for his steady presence, sense of humor, generosity, and deep love for his family. His impact will live on through the many lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed.
Calling hours will be held, on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment in Memory Gardens, Colonie, will be held privately.
