Publish in a newspaper

Alan Hunter Boulden, age 85, of Sevierville, TN, formerly of North Wilmington, DE, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 27, 2025.

Born on March 18, 1940, to Isaac Jr. and Iva (Mayne) Boulden, Alan grew up in Claymont, Delaware, the youngest of three children, joining his sisters Iva and Eleanor.

After graduating from Claymont High School, Alan attended Millersville University in Mountville, PA, where he majored in Education. He later built a long and steady career with Delmarva Power & Light, where he worked for 40 years, while also maintaining several rental properties. Alongside his first wife, Irene (Renie Chandler), he owned and operated B&B Liquors in Claymont, DE.

Dedicated to his community, Alan was a lifetime member of Bethel #66 Engine House in Garnet Valley, PA, where he supported the firehouse in many ways, including serving with the Fire Police in later years.

Alan was an accomplished piano player who loved music, camping trips to Myrtle Beach and Hickory Run Campground in Denver, PA, and spending time outdoors. An avid hunter, he especially cherished his annual Thanksgiving week trips to Renick, WV, often joined by his sons, creating lifelong memories and stories.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn O'Hanlon-Boulden (2024); his father, Isaac H. Boulden Jr. (1949); his mother, Iva H. (Mayne) Boulden (1996); his sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Charles Rolph (1997); and his nephew, Kevin Rolph (2014).

Alan is survived by his sister, Iva (Boulden) Thomas of Wilmington, DE; his four sons and their spouses, John I. Boulden (Emily) of Sevierville, TN, Ronald L. Boulden (Colleen) of New Castle, DE, Andrew F. Boulden (Dawn) of Laurel, DE, and John O'Hanlon (Deborah) of Wilmington, DE. He is also survived by seven grandchildren-Jason Boulden, Michael Valichka, Christina Boulden, Kayla Boulden, Amanda (Boulden) Dungan (Tim), Emily (Boulden) Kemmerer (Derek), and Sara Boulden-and six great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m., at, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Pike, Wilmington, DE 19805.
