Alan James Clemans, 74, well-respected lifelong Texas County resident, passed away Wednesday evening, August 6, 2025 at his home north of
Guymon, Oklahoma.
The son of Orville and Irma (Ralstin) Clemans, he was born November 16, 1950 in Liberal, Kansas. Alan was a graduate of Straight Grade School and Guymon High School, graduating with the Class of 1969. He and Connie Pierce met in high school and were united in marriage on December 22, 1968 at the Straight Christian Church, where Alan was baptized and attended his entire life.
Alan fell in love with farming and animals by farming with his dad from the age of 7, driving a Ford N-Series open-cab tractor when he could barely reach the pedals to drive and raising the cows and calves the family had on their dairy farm.
Alan and Connie began their farm and ranch, Alan J. Clemans Farms, in 1969 by leasing land from neighbors in the community. They began purchasing farmland in 1972, adding a section of ranch land in 1974. In 1989 Alan and Connie built a growing lot of 1000 head of cattle, and eventually grew Alan J. Clemans Farms to 7,378 acres, mainly growing irrigated corn, wheat, milo, and alfalfa. Alan always considered farming his way of being God's steward of the land and caring for his animals. Alan and Connie retired from farming in 2022.
Alan's love of animals began from an early age, and he passed this love on to his daughters. They have countless fun memories of Alan's teachings including raising bucket-fed calves, adopting and taming wild Idaho mustangs, and discovering the fact that baby skunks indeed CAN spray (and tomato juice baths don't work)! He enjoyed spoiling his daughters with surprises, and one year brought home tie-dyed bunnies for Easter. They laughed over these memories often with Alan and will forever cherish those moments with him.
Alan was deeply determined and devoted to farming to his utmost, but also enjoyed having fun with his family and friends with motorcycle rides, boating, fishing, hunting, flying his private Cessna 182, and antique car collecting. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed razzing his loved ones.
Alan and Connie were blessed to have journeyed through life, in such a rich, adventurous, and prosperous marriage together for 57 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Irma Clemans, sister, Dorothy Ann, and two brothers, Gerald and Eldon Clemans. Alan is survived by his wife, Connie, two daughters, Barbara (Andrew) Toth of Boise, Idaho and Julie (Lonnie) Pierce of Guymon; four grandchildren, Allison (Paul) Toth Kuchar and Derek Toth all of Boise, Bret Pierce of Guymon and Cody (Tayah) Pierce of Yukon, Oklahoma, and two great-grandchildren, Lucy and Daniel Kuchar of Boise, Idaho.
The family will greet friends on Monday evening, August 11, between the hours of 6:00and 8:00 p.m. at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home. Graveside services will be in the Barden Cemetery Tuesday, August 12 at 2 pm with Alan's friend, Gary Talbert, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Panhandle State Foundation to be used in establishing the Alan J. Clemans Agricultural Scholarship in honor of his legacy.
