Alan E. Colquhoun

Alan E. Colquhoun passed away at home following a recent cancer diagnosis. Alan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Chipponeri, his children Roxane (Troy) and Scott (Danielle), his cherished granddaughters Lily and Rose Colquhoun and his siblings Joan Hendrick and Bruce.
Alan's hard work, faithfulness, patriotism, and love of his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Alan's first job as a paper boy, in his hometown of Pomona, served as the impetus for anecdotes from his youth. In his teens, Alan's family moved to Modesto, where he was a 'shop geek' at Downey High School. Alan served in the Army National Guard, worked in construction, and started A&K Cabinet Shop before marrying Martha in 1972. They raised their children in Turlock, and during these years Alan built many beautiful homes, church projects and incredible memories with his family and friends. Following a successful subdivision project, Alan and Martha moved to Hilmar, where at age 60 he learned to farm almonds. From 2011-13 Alan worked to fulfill his life's dream to restore his grandfather's 1930 Model A - he loved to drive the A-bone and he and 'Amos' were well known about town. He continued car, construction and fabrication projects in his dream shop until the end (just as he always said he wanted to do).
A memorial service for Alan will be held at 10am on Thursday, April 17, at one of his earliest construction sites - Modesto Christian Reformed Church, 2620 College Avenue.
