He was born August 12, 1948 in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late Homer Cleophus Currence and Annabel Fimple Currence. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife: Janet Ann Currence.
Alan is survived by his son: Brian Todd Currence; and daughter: Rebecca Elyse Currence; brother: Fayne Russell Currence and his children: Michael Fayne and Ginger Ann Woods.
Alan had lived in England and Manassas, Virginia before moving to Fairmont, West Virginia. He was an avid Boy Scout and spelunker throughout his youth and young adulthood.
After retiring from Columbia Gas with 24 years of experience, he began teaching at Everett Institute in Cross Lanes, West Virginia; he taught Electronics and IT courses. Alan had a great love of teaching and a true talent for translating complex ideas into approachable and learnable concepts.
We are honoring his wish that he be cremated and no services at this time.
