Al was a Sergeant in the United States Army and worked as a helicopter mechanic. Later he became an industrial insulator. He had 40 years in the Heat and Frost Insulators Local 55. He enjoyed fishing, boating and playing golf.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy DeVries. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary (Gina) DeVries; one daughter, Brandy (Russell) Schaerer of Semmes, AL; two grandsons, Robert and Brent Schaerer; and his siblings, Roberta Taylor, Dottie Karasiewicz, Tammy DeVries, Daniel DeVries and Jim DeVries.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11AM at Haven Woods Baptist Church, 7050 Lott Road in Semmes, AL.
Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, is assisting the family.
