Alan Wayne Ellerman, 62, of Old Huron, Kansas died Feb. 16, 2025, at Mosaic Life Care surrounded by family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Pastor Seth Montgomery officiating. A visitation with the family will be held 6-8PM, Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Atchison County Fair Board or to the family to be designated at a later time. Condolences may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com
Alan was born on July 7, 1962, in Winchester, Kansas, the son of Albert (LeRoy) and Sally (Kloepper) Ellerman. He attended Atchison County Community High School and Northeast Kansas Area Vo-Technical School graduating in 1980. Two days after graduation, he started working for Atchison County Road and Bridge for thirty-four years before retiring to be a full-time cattleman and farmer. He was a quiet, but active member of the Atchison County Fair Horse Show Committee, NEKSAG, and Huron Saddle Club. He was a lifetime member of the AQHA and supporter of Atchison County 4-H. Alan was passionate about his livestock, taking pride in breaking horses, good dogs, and tending cattle. He also enjoyed hunting, shooting, and fishing when time allowed. Above all his family was his greatest joy.
He married Margo Schecher on July 30, 1988, and she survives at home. Additional survivors include his daughter, Tara Jo (Aaron) Bina, granddaughters, Margaret Kay and Ainsley Jo Bina, parents, LeRoy and Sally Ellerman, brother, Ray (Mary) Ellerman and sister Julie (Dirk) Jamvold, as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends considered family.
