Alan Gladden, 73, husband of the late Kathee Anderson Gladden, and a resident of Marionville, VA, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 15, 2025. A native of Birdsnest, VA, he was the son of the late Robert Allen Gladden and Gloria Powers Gladden. Alan dedicated much of his life to public service. He proudly served as a trooper with the Virginia State Police for 32 years before retiring as a Master Trooper, earning the respect of colleagues and the community through his commitment, integrity, and sense of duty.
He is survived by his sons, Duane Gladden (Bridget) and Quinten Gladden (Serena); his grandchildren, Dustin Gladden, Hannah Martin (Justin), Rebecca Burcham (Steven), and Peyton Gladden; and his great-grandchildren, Blakely, Baylor, McKenna, and Hayden. He is also survived by his sister, Miriam Sturgis (Lennie). In addition to his wife, Kathee, he was preceded in death by those he loved deeply and honored throughout his life.
A celebration life service will be conducted Sunday, December 21, 2025, at 2:00PM at Marshfield, 10237 Locust Lawn Drive, Birdsnest, VA 23307 with Rob Kelly officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia State Police Association, 6942 Forest Hill Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23225, or a charity of one’s choice.
