Alan Gray, age 77, of Eddyville, Iowa, passed away at his home under hospice care. He was born on September 22, 1948, the son of John "Clifford" and Frieda Would Gray in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He attended Eddyville High School and graduated with the Class of 1967. On December 22, 1984, he was united in marriage to Laura Cook in Oskaloosa.
Alan worked in construction for many years until taking a maintenance job at the Mahaska Hospital for over 20 years. He was a member of the National Guard. Alan enjoyed hunting, riding 4-wheelers, gardening and was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Gray of Eddyville, a sister, Marsha Gray and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Buggsy.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Gardner.
As was his wish, cremation will take place, and a private family burial will take place at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family.
