Alan Jacobs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caring Cremations - Chicago on Jan. 8, 2026.
Alan H. Jacobs, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully from complications of Alzheimer's on January 3, 2026, in Chicago, IL, at the age of 84. Born on April 25, 1941, in Minneapolis, MN, Alan's journey the last 32 years was with the love of his life, his wife, Janice Jacobs. Together, they created beautiful memories, filled with laughter, adventure, and an abundance of love.
Alan was both strength and love for his family, including his daughter, Betsy Moeller (Tim), and his son, David Jacobs (Christine). He was the proud and doting papa to Evan, Erin, Ava, and Harlow, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Alan was also survived by his sister, Ilene Thornton (Bill), his niece Miranda Johnson (Dola), and their children.
Alan studied Marketing at the University of Illinois. Alan's musical tastes were eclectic, and he was known for his skill in creating the perfect playlist for any occasion. A man of adventure, Alan never shied away from the opportunity to explore new horizons through travel, trying new experiences, or simply engaging with those around him.
Alan's legacy is one of love, a testament to the meaningful relationships he nurtured throughout his lifetime. As we say goodbye to Alan, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a song that will never truly end. In the quiet moments, we will find Alan in the notes of a familiar tune, the warmth of shared stories, and the embrace of family and friends.
