LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Alan Need Knight, age 73, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025 at his home. He was born December 27, 1951, in Lancaster, SC, a son of the late William Clyburn Knight and the late Catherine Louise Branch Knight and was the loving husband of Dorothy "Dot" Knight for 56 years. Alan was a member of the Masonic Lodge #53. He spent majority of his life driving trucks and traveled many miles for work. Alan enjoyed spending his time wood working and was a collector of tape measurers and hammers. He will be remembered by his sense of humor, always telling a joke, and never meeting a stranger. Alan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

Mr. Knight is survived by his wife, Dot Knight; his two daughters, Lisa Lane (Greg) and Trisha Belk; his son, Scott Knight (Mitch); his four grandchildren, Mack Lane (Jordan), Montana Lane Stroud, Ally Small (Trey), and Gracie Belk; his five great-grandchildren, Freya Lane, Serenity Lane, Trinity Lane, Jr. Eudy, and Harper Eudy; his brother, Billy Knight (Linda); his sister, Peggy Miliam (Dale); and many special friends, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.C. Knight and Catherine B Knight; his son-in-law, Andy Belk; his great-granddaughter, Harmony Morgan Stroud; his brother, John Knight; and his two sisters, Nancy Lowery and Jean Lowery.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Knight will be 11:00 am Thursday, August 21, 2025, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
