Alan Henry “Hank” Peterson passed away at UAB Hospital from medical complications on February 3, 2026. Hank was born on September 12, 1963, the son of John Morris Peterson and Nancy R. Peterson. He grew up in Whistler, Alabama. After high school he attended two years of Technical training and attained his Master Electrician’s License and began working with a private Electrical Company. During this time he moved to Bay Minete, Alabama. Hank started working with Mobile County School System in 1984 as an electrician in the Renovations Department. Later he advanced to the Facilities Department as the Electrical Supervisor and then became a Coordinator. He wrote electrical and construction specifications for the school system and was instrumental in designing all of the technology cabling needs throughout the entire school district. Along with being in charge of New Construction and Renovation projects for the System, Hank supervised Land Management, Forestry and Environmental Services. This included 28,000 acres of timber and over 10 million square feet of buildings, all of which served over 78,000 students at that time. With these responsibilities, he developed good working relationships with Board Members, Superintendents and Principals in the entire School System.
After retirement and the loss of his parents, he decided to move to Clanton to be closer to his sister, Pam, and her family. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also became a master chef on the grill and smoker while preparing his favorite cuts of meat. He was a perfectionist with everything he did and could repair or build almost anything. Hank’s “home away from home” was at the Hunting Club with his best friends. He loved working with his tractor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy and Jack Peterson and his brother, Rusty Peterson. He is survived by his sister, Pam Headley (Richard); niece, Michelle Moses; nephew, Gus Bolan (Wendy); and great-nephews, Jace and Jack Bolan along with a multitude of cousins and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Walnut Creek Methodist Church in Clanton, Alabama with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
