Alan Pienkowski Obituary

Alan Pienkowski
Alan Pienkowski of Vernon, CT died peacefully on Jan. 4, 2025, after a long battle with prostate cancer. Alan was born Oct. 19, 1967, in Waterbury, son of Stanley and the late Ann Joan (Liberatore) Pienkowski and younger brother of Laura Pienkowski. The family moved to Vernon in 1972 and he went through the Vernon school system, graduating from Rockville High School in 1986. He graduated from UCONN with a BS in geology in the early 1990's and was a proud member of the drum line for the UCONN Pride of CT Marching Band. He was also in the Air Force ROTC program while at college.
Alan's most recent work was at Pace Labs in East Longmeadow, MA for over 20 years, where he leaves many friends and colleagues.
Among his hobbies were building Lego Technic cars, board gaming with Dennis and Heidi, and collecting trading cards, specifically Star Trek CCG. He also enjoyed going to Walt Disney World with his family and friends, and became an avid pin trader and collector over the years. An avid bowler, Alan was a member of many bowling leagues at both Spare Time in Vernon and Silver Lanes in East Hartford, and he once scored a perfect 300 game. He was also an avid puzzle builder, with the pride and joy being the 9,000 piece puzzle framed in the basement.
Besides his immediate family, he leaves his aunt Barbara Genovese of Waterbury, his aunt Linda (Michael) Strajkowski of New Britain, as well as many cousins. He also leaves life-long best friends Greg and Mac Fielding and their children Quinn (Allie) and Spencer.
All are welcome to join his family for calling hours at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road in Vernon, CT on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke Church, 141 Maple Street in Ellington, CT on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. At the request of his family, please wear bright colors or something Disney related. Burial will follow at Ellington Center Cemetery. A reception will be held after the burial back at St Luke Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Luke Church, 141 Maple Street, PO Box 246, Ellington, CT 06029. For online condolences, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com

I was so sorry to hear of Alan's passing. We worked together for two decades. He was such a nice person. He made work more fun with his trivia contests. We had many discussions about geeky topics like Marvel, Disney, and Star Trek. He will be greatly missed.
