G. Alan Rader, 1951-2025, known to all as "Big Al," Alan was caring, funny and hard working at his craft as an award-winning master painter and paper hanger. Sue and Al loved their 1925 Craftsman bungalow in Dauphin that Al restored to its original elegance. Over the years they were together, Alan and Sue enjoyed traveling, taking care of their many pets and foster dogs, gardening, and cookouts on the back deck with their many friends and family. Al was immensely fond of his nephew Aaron and grand-nieces Kara and Kristen. No one could make them laugh like their Uncle Al.
We have a vision of Al climbing one last ladder and being greeted by his beloved Aaron and turning to Saint Peter with a twinkle in his eye and that great smile and proclaiming, "Too much white!"
As a survivor of stage 4 lung cancer, Al devoted many hours talking to newly diagnosed lung cancer patients inspiring them and helping them along on their cancer journey.
Mourning his loss are many friends and family members – his wife of 52 years Susan Rader, sisters Helen Rader of Washington DC and Kathy Carmichael of London, England, his sister and brother-in-law, Ray and Kathy Mann of Seattle, WA, niece and nephew-in-law, Lisa and Chris Woodley of Vashon, WA, great-nieces Kara and Kristen Woodley, and many other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews around the country.
Services will be private.
