Alan Ruckel Obituary

Alan Lee Ruckel, a spirited audio entrepreneur and devoted husband, passed away on November 29, 2025, in the serene embrace of Santa Fe, surrounded by his loving wife, Linda. Born on November 18, 1947, Alan's journey through life was marked by an infectious joy and a zest for living that endeared him to everyone who crossed his path.

For over 40 years, Alan poured his heart into his business, establishing himself as a respected figure in the audio industry. His dedication and entrepreneurial spirit were not only a source of pride but also a testament to his unwavering determination and passion for his craft. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him would often remark on his vibrant personality, an aura of happiness that radiated wherever he went. With a smile that could light up a room, Alan made each encounter feel special, leaving behind an indelible mark on the hearts of many.

He shared a beautiful marriage with Linda, a partnership that spanned more than four decades, characterized by mutual respect, love, and an unshakeable bond. Alan cherished moments spent with her, often revolving around two of his great passions: food and travel. A true culinary enthusiast, he relished the flavors of international cuisines, always eager to explore new tastes and share delightful meals with loved ones.

Alan was not just a man of business; he was a lover of life in every sense. His interests were as diverse as they were fulfilling, ranging from his collections of trains, stereo systems, and records to the thrill of deep-sea fishing and lobster diving. Alan loved to travel with trips to Japan, travels through Europe and the Galapagos Islands. The Appalachian Trails provided him with solace and adventure, and he embraced the great outdoors with the same fervor he brought to his many hobbies, whether skiing the mountains or dancing the night away with Linda.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Alan’s dedication extended beyond personal pursuits. He was not only a skilled photographer and a swimming instructor but also a caring lifeguard, ensuring the safety of countless swimmers. His athletic spirit was evident in his love for basketball and watching college sports, where he cheered passionately for his teams.

Alan's legacy is not solely defined by his accomplishments but by the memories he created with those he loved. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Linda, who stood by his side through thick and thin, and whose love was the foundation of his life's happiness. In his passing, he joins his parents, Wilbur and Gertrude Ruckel, as well as his sisters, Cynthia and Janice, and though they are no longer with us, their spirits will guide him as he embarks on this new journey.

As we bid farewell to Alan, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with joy, discovery, and love. His laughter and bright spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

Services will be January 7, 2026 11:00 AM at Rivera Funeral Home in the Kiva Chapel.
