Alan D. Scott, 94, Chisholm, formerly and longtime resident of Kelly Lake, MN died Thursday, September 11, 2025, at home in Chisholm. He was born August 15, 1931, to Elam and Mary (Zimmerman) Scott in Renville, MN. After high school, Alan enlisted into the Army and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. After his time in the military, Alan was employed with the Sherman Mine as a train conductor. Once the Sherman Mine closed, he finished his time with Minntac retiring after 20 years of service. Alan worked for the DNR in the Forestry Department planting trees. Lastly, he was employed with Mesaba Sign Company, hanging and painting signs for them. Alan was a member of the VFW Post 8510 of Hibbing and in his younger years, the Hibbing Moose Lodge. He was known as a fabulous gardener and enjoyed fishing from time to time.

Alan is survived by his children, Ken (Tammie) Scott, Chisholm, MN, Deb Scott, Duluth, MN, and Bill Scott of Malibu, CA, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two sons, Tim and Michael Scott, two sisters, Delores Scott, and Marian Oyman, two brothers, Elery and Bob Scott, his former wife, Carol Scott, and his parents, Elam and Mary (Zimmerman) Scott.

A gathering of family and friends for Alan will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm, Friday, September 19, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Chisholm, MN. Interment will be in the Chisholm Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Mid-Range Honor Guard. A reception will follow the cemetery services at Jim's Sports Bar in Chisholm, MN.
