Alan was a dear friend of mine for the past eight years despite our age difference or distance apart. Our relationship started off as strictly business with me coordinating some of his business flights. Quickly we shared our love for sports with Alan always roasting me when a New England team lost a game. Alan also quickly learned about my children and offered his connections when one of my daughters needed medical attention in Boston. Ever since then we have spoke almost weekly, and the start of the conversation on either end was always "how is your family".
I´ll miss my talks with Alan and will always remember him and his friendship, and I´m grateful for his trust in allowing me to fly his family safely.

Alan and Leza have been beloved members of The Hunger Project family for four decades. Alan was a champion for our work and brought many others to find out about the difference they could make through us. Alan and Leza's investment directly impacted hundreds of thousands of lives, changing the future for entire communities. The ripple effects will continue to reverberate, forever, an extraordinary legacy. Alan was a rare combination of brains and heart -- he will be missed! With love from your family at THP.

We are saddened to learn of Alan's passing. He was a many of many talents -- ranging from law, business, and projects for charity/social good. I have memories of our many lunches and meetings over the years while Alan was CEO of BAM. Our relationship with him was always more than just business. We had a level of trust and friendship that was special and rare. That will be so deeply missed by me personally and everyone who worked with Alan.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Silverstein family.

On behalf of NuDay, we extend our deepest sympathies and respect to Shana and Leza and the Silverstein family. Alan was a staunch and personable donor of both individual family cases in Syria with a sick or differently-abled child and a supporter of NuDay´s in kind program that helps thousands of families monthly (and keeps items out of landfills). He was dignified, funny, caring, and a believer of creating opportunity and democracy-building endeavors for others affected by crises as part of a larger goal towards basically world peace and childhood hope. Alan, wishes for a peaceful next journey and calmness to the hearts of your beloved.
