Alan was a man with a deep love for life. I met Alan early in the morning while walking the Camino de Santiago in the summer of 2024. Within the hour of our meeting I saw him perform an act of charity that I had never seen before or since. As we were walking, talking, and laughing we witnessed a cat get hit and killed by a car. It happened so quickly that everyone was stunned. Yet Alan with the utmost sympathy and without thinking twice about it, took off his own shirt and used it to carefully wrap the deceased cat. He then laid it gently at the edge of the sidewalk. Witnessing this respect for the poor creature and its possible owner was beautiful and inspiring. His love for such a simple creature was proof to me that he had an even greater love for his fellow man. Without showing any concern for himself Alan then proceeded to grab another shirt from his backpack. His only comment regarding the lost shirt was that he now had enough space to get a cool new Camino one.
Later in the journey Alan and I got hair cuts together in a small barber shop in the city of Melide. It was a fun and memorable time!
Alan was a good man with a big heart. I pray for his soul. May he rest in peace enjoying a long walk with Jesus.
Ultreia et Suseia Alan Andres Tucker!

Alan really was a light-- a man of compassion and a bearer of peace. I met Alan this past summer on the Camino de Santiago. He quickly became a favorite of everyone who had the honor of meeting him, and that was known among the group of us pilgrims who ended up banding together for the rest of the Camino. It struck us how Alan was authentically himself while being able to easily speak with anyone he met.
It was heartbreaking for all of us to hear of his passing. Please know of our prayers and condolences for the family of such a good man.
