Alan is survived by his wife, Ingrid; sons Timothy (Susan) Hill, Thomas Hill, both of Manito, Terry (Cindy) Hill of Forest City; one brother, Robert (Diane) Wichner of Sioux Falls, SD; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and his beloved dogs Sheeba and Scarlett. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings Mary Ryan, Linda Montgomery, Fred Wichner, and Barbara Wichner.
Alan graduated from Forman High School in Manito. He worked in the power industry for over 37 years and retired from Powerton in 2013. Alan enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, traveling to South Dakota with his wife to pheasant hunt, and riding motorcycles, even in the winter. Alan was a gracious, and giving man to anyone he would meet that was in need. Alan was very successful in his career and was always happy and willing to share his good fortune with anyone who was struggling financially. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends but always remembered as a kind and helping man.
A visitation will be held for Alan at Maas Hurley Funeral Home in Manito, IL on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Cremation rites will be accorded and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to HelpHopeLive and the Hill Burton Program.

Maas Hurley Funeral Home in Manito, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.

Al did not grow up in high class or riches, (a blessing, not a curse), but he never stopped being joyful. You could go years without seeing him and he still treated you like you were hanging out yesterday. We have heard great stories of his generosity. Rest in Peace and we are praying for your soul.
