Abrahm "Alan" Youngen, 88, of Ragersville passed away at his residence on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 following a period of declining health.
Born in Ragersville on March 30, 1937, he was the son of the late Walter and Alice L. (Smith) Youngen. He was a 1955 graduate of Sugarcreek-Shanesville High School and married the former Betsy Hite on October 1, 1993.
Alan was a farmer, Auburn Township Fiscal Officer from 1975 - 2012, and retired from Belden Brick Plant #8 in 1999 after 25 years of service. He was a member of Ragersville Zion United Church of Christ and the Ragersville Historical Society and enjoyed listening to music, old movies, cars with V-8 engines, bowling (bowling a 300 game), sitting on his back porch swing with his favorite beverage, and also John Deere tractors.
In addition to his wife Betsy of the home, he is survived by his children Tammie (Heather Burton) Youngen, and Christina (Chad) Wallace both of Sugarcreek; step-children Kendra (Robert) Kugler, Kara Finley, Kristal (Jack) Stull; and ten grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents.
A service for Alan will be held at Ragersville Zion United Church of Christ on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor LuAnn Youngman officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday, September 12, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. (one hour prior to the service). Private burial will be held in Ragersville Cemetery at a later date.
