John L. Armstrong, 82, of Carrollton, formerly of Attica, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the Carroll Healthcare Center in Carrollton.
Born in West Mansfield on May 6, 1943, he was the son of the late Paul and Catherine (Bollinger) Armstrong. He graduated from West Mansfield High School in 1962.
John was a member of the Ebeneezer United Methodist Church in Tiffin, and enjoyed outdoor sports including golfing, fishing, hunting, church league softball and also dart ball. He was an avid fan of the Cinicinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds. His greatest joy came from his close interaction with his family members.
He is survived by his daughters Leisa (Sam) Arnold of Delroy, and Kim (Steve) Skeel of Norwalk; grandchildren Amber Hochstetler, Matthew (Julie) Hochstetler, and Emily Skeel; great grandchildren Payton and Blakely Hostetler; and brother Donald (Linda) Armstrong of Bellefountaine.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Richard Armstrong and James Armstrong; sister Carol DeVaughn; and grandson Joshua R. Hochstetler.
Services for John will be held at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 12:00 pm with Pastor Barb DeBord officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Creek Mennonite Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 am to 12 pm (One hour prior to the service) on Saturday.
