Alana Gail Shaw
Alana Gail (Huff) Shaw, age 73, passed away from complications from her long 4-year battle with cancer on Monday, September 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Alana was born on February 29, 1952, to Albert Edward Huff Sr. and Daphne Melvina Hersom in Portland, Maine.
Alana was a graduate of Bonny Eagle High School in 1970. She met the love of her life in high school, Wayne Russell Shaw, and they married on October 1, 1971. Throughout their almost 54 years together, they have lived in Standish, Baldwin, and their final retirement home in Zephyrhills, Florida. She and Wayne would come home in the summers to live with their daughter and son-in-law in Cornish, Maine.
Early on, she started working at Locust Farm Dairy in the office in Limington, which was eventually bought out by H.P. Hood and moved to the Portland office. She worked there for many years and made great friends. After H.P. Hood, she then moved to Anthem BCBS as an insurance billing specialist. She stayed there for many years and retired at 64 years old.
Alana was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family meant the world to her. She loved making sure everyone was fed well, especially with Alana's famous chocolate chip cookies. Her cookies were a request at every function she went to. She loved music and would get up and dance at any moment. She loved all holidays and family gatherings. She taught her family all that was special about each holiday, whether it was an easter egg hunt, presents at Christmas, or her famous homemade stuffing at Thanksgiving, she put her heart into it all. She was always known to be comical and witty with her comments, even giving people nicknames. Most of all, she loved spending time with her husband, never leaving each other's side.
She is predeceased by her parents, whom she cherished, her mother-in-law, Evelyn Shaw, her brother-in-law, Fred Lambert, and her nephew, John Huff, all of whom she loved dearly.
Alana is survived by her devoted spouse, Wayne Shaw of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Cornish, Maine; her daughters, Wendy Humphrey and her husband, Richard, of Cornish, Maine, and Julie Reynolds and her husband, Timothy, of Ocala, Florida. She has five grandchildren: Alexa Jordan and her husband, Jake, of Ocala, Florida; Annette Milne and her husband, Ian, of Cornish, Maine; Luke Reynolds and his wife, Taina, of Waukegan, Illinois; Mason Humphrey of Cornish, Maine; and Kody Reynolds and his fiancée, Mya Jinorio, of Ocala, Florida. She is survived by three great-granddaughters, Harper, Izabelle, and Adaline Jordan, of Ocala, Florida. She was expecting her newest great-granddaughter from Luke and Taina in October of 2025. She is also survived by her three brothers and two sisters: Darlene Roberge and her husband, Larry, of Zephyrhills, Florida; Richard Huff and his wife, Sheri, of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Oxford, Maine; Albert Huff Jr. and his wife, Robin, of Buxton, Maine; Susan Huff of Gorham, Maine; and Toby Huff and his wife, Judith of Tucson, Arizona. Her father-in-law, Warren Shaw of Standish, Maine. Her brother and sister-in laws, Jean Bradeen, Debra Lambert, Janet and Dave Lampron, Rusty Shaw and partner Nicole, and Dawn and Norman Adams. Alana has many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, long-time friends, and friends from Betmar whom she adored with all her heart.
A celebration of life and burial will be held in Maine in May of 2026. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Alana, please visit our Tree Store.
