Alba Echevarrìa

Ms. Alba Echevarrìa, age 73, of Newnan, Georgia, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on September 13, 2025, in Griffin, Georgia. Alba was born in Brooklyn, NY, to her late parents, Alberto Echevarrìa and Clara Serrano. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Junior Echevarria and Richard Mercado, and her nephews Richard Mercado Jr. and Paul Rodriguez. Raised in New York within a large and loving Puerto Rican family, Alba was one of eight siblings. Alongside her brothers and sisters, she helped care for and raise two nephews and one niece, who were brought up within the same family home. As one of the younger siblings, Alba formed a special bond with them-nurturing, guiding, and claiming them as her own. Upon graduating from high school, Alba began a long and successful career with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers), where she worked for over 40 years until her retirement. In May 2013, she moved to Newnan, Georgia, to be closer to her beloved niece, Jean Urrutia. Over the last 13 years, Alba was cared for and deeply loved by Jean and her family. She also formed close friendships within the Newnan community, which became her cherished second home. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, GA. The service is to follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be shared online at www.mckoon.com.
