Albert Becker Jr, 83, of Marshfield passed away peacefully with his dog Squirt at his side, on Thursday, March 16, at his home in Marshfield. He was a life-long resident in the township of Richfield in Wood County.
Albert was born on December 18, 1939, in Marshfield, Wisconsin to the parents of Albert and Hilda (Brey) Becker. He attended Marshfield Senior High School graduating in 1957. He married Carol (Bires) Becker and they later divorced after having six children.
He worked in the paper mill in Wisconsin Rapids early in his career, bought a farm in the township of Richfield in 1963 were he dairy farmed for decades. He was also a plumber at Reigel Plumbing & Heating for a number of years while farming full time. He left the plumbing trade in the 1970's and continued farming until his retirement.
His hobbies included joke telling & playing pranks which he did often. On a daily basis he enjoyed reading the newspaper, including the obituaries. When he got to the obituaries he would always say, "Well, let's see if I'm listed." We'll miss you Dad One of his favorite one-liners during retirement was "I don't like to oversleep in the morning since then I miss my morning nap".
He enjoyed hunting and taking a ride on the UTV to his "possum lodge" deer hunting stand throughout the year. He was quick to fry eggs and bacon on the wood stove for visitors. Although he seldom tagged a deer, he enjoyed being there when others did. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed eating at supper clubs and visiting his second family at Pair-a-Dice in Arpin.
He is survived by his sisters Florence "Dovey" (late Al) Peloquin, Gerry (late Bob) Guibord, Elaine (late Jack) Heeg, his brother Eddie (Carol) Becker. Children David (Jane) Becker, Kathy (Pat Reigel) Woellner, Ann (Wayne) Fluegel, Joey Becker, Albert (Neilaine) Becker, and Carrie Becker. Grandson, Darien Becker-Wood was his farmhand, honorary son, and companion for many years. He is further survived by 19 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Ronnie and his partner Jan Hiti.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 11th 2023 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at Pair-a-Dice in Arpin, WI.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield next to his parents and brother.
