Albert Preston Bowers Sr, 85, of Waynesville NC went home to be with his loving Savior on July 28, 2025. Albert was born on April 10, 1940 in Woodbury NJ to Harry and Rebecca Bowers. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Leslee Patricia Bowers, sister Doris and brother Kenneth.
Albert is survived by his daughters Patricia (Robert) and Laura (Scott) both of South Jersey and son Albert Jr of FL, also his dear brother Harry Jr of Mantua NJ, 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Albert was employed for 35 years by the USPS, first serving as letter carrier and later SPO at the Sewell NJ post office. He finished his career as Postmaster at the Marmora NJ post office until his retirement in 1995.
After his retirement, Al and wife Pat moved to Melbourne FL. There he enjoyed gardening with his constant companion Murphy, a rescue dog. He won "Lawn of the Month" many times. He also volunteered where his wife was employed at the Molly Mutt, a thrift store supporting the local Humane Society. Al also found time to let his voice be heard participating in political rallies and letters to the editor. In 2006 wanting a change of scenery he moved to the Asheville/Waynesville NC area. Here he and wife Pat enjoyed exploring and hiking the area's gorgeous waterfalls, traveling especially to New England where they researched Pat's ancestral roots and many other adventures.
Al was also a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church where he enjoyed attending services, adult Sunday school and various bible studies until a decline in health.
Al's favorite bible verse was John 3:16 and his favorite worship song was I Can Only Imagine by the Christian band MercyMe. Al no longer has to imagine what Heaven is like, it's his new
