Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Albert Wayne Cooke 79, of Big Spring, Tx, passed away at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 18, 1946 in Sanderson, Tx to Cecil and Winona Cooke. Due to family hardships, he was raised by his grandparents, Albert (Buck) and Katie Davis and was fortunate to grow up in the ranching communities of Rock Springs, Del Rio, Sonora and Ozona, where he graduated high school in 1965. Over the years he worked for Southland Royalty Company, Meridian Oil and he eventually retired with Mewbourne Oil Company.
Albert dearly loved his family, and was so proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He rarely missed a family reunion and was famous for bringing his frozen margaritas! He was a die-hard car guy who enjoyed building, restoring and drag racing old cars. He made many trips across the country in search of cars and car parts including a memorable road trip with Ginny and their beloved dogs on the historic Route 66.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and two brothers, Bruce Bridges and Les Cooke and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 1/2 years, Ginny, son, Mike Cooke (Denise), daughter, Amy Lane (Ben), Cindy Ficklin, and son Adam Paschal (Amanda) and grandchildren Dusty Kirby (Kearra), Katie Wilson (Justin), Emily Alexander (Joe Bob), Wyatt Lane, Megan Lane (Lance Waters), Delaney Anderson (Denver), Ryan Ficklin, Adeline Paschal, and Austin Paschal. Great grandchildren, Jarret Wilson, Caleb Wilson, Kinsley Kirby, Kilynn Scroggins, Cecilia Wilson and Jett Davis Waters. He is also survived by brothers Bobby Bridges, Ronald Cooke, and sisters, Glenda Dodd, and Beth Ann Justus, and several cousins.
He will be sorely missed by his friends and family.
