Albert L. Gallagher, 72, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on November 29, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 26, 1951, in Toledo to Clarence and Mary (Baker) Gallagher. Al was a graduate of Macomber High School and served in the US Army at Fort Hood, Texas. Al worked at Ford's former Maumee Stamping Plant for 30 years, retiring in machine repair in 2007. He married Carol M. Elder on March 22, 1986, and together raised two children.
Al always enjoyed making others laugh as much as he enjoyed laughing with family and friends. He treasured his friendships from the 401st MP Co. and UAW Local 1892. He was hard working and had a strong sense of service to his community and those less fortunate, serving on the Board of Trustees at the former Zion UMC where he and his wife were members and at various volunteer events in the Toledo area. Always quick with a story, he enjoyed interacting with his many customers as a driver at Ryan Pharmacy after retirement.
Left to cherish Al's memory is his wife of 37 years Carol ( Elder) Gallagher; loving sons, Corey (Erin Murphy) Gallagher, Jacob Gallagher; sisters, Linda (Jim) Fencer, Pat (Jim) Opaczewski; brother, Tom Gallagher; sister-in-law, Cheryle Gallagher; and many dear friends and family. Al was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jimmy and Mike Gallagher.
Friends and family are welcome to visit at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, on Sunday December 3, 2023, 2-8 p.m. where the service will be held on Monday December 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Toledo or The Friendly Center of Toledo.
