Albert Joseph Martin Jr.

Albert Joseph Martin, Jr. was born in New Orleans on October 29, 1938, and died on January 11, 2026. Called Al by many, he was also known as Buddy, Dad, Poppa, Mr. Martin, and Sonny by loved ones, friends, and students.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Carolyn Rousset Martin, and their four children and spouses, Karen (DeAnn), Greg, Wendy (Michael), and Michele (Philip). He is survived by eight grandchildren, Tucker, Bradley, Michael, Jared, Julia, Jennifer, Philip, and Megan, as well as nine great-grandchildren, Sydney, Michael, Genevieve, Marcella, Philip, Isabella, Lucile, Colette, and Rudy. He is also survived by his brother, Carl, and his sister, Barbara.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents, Albert Joseph Martin, Sr. (Antoinette), and Madelon Seeling (Alphonse), as well as his brother, Ronald Seeling, and his grandson, Albert Joseph "A.J." Peterson Martin.

Al held a wide variety of jobs in areas such as warehousing, retail, and management, but was most proud of his work as an educator for the Archdiocese of New Orleans, Delgado, Loyola, and Tulane. He will be remembered for his delicious cooking, passion for reading, and love for his dogs.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 4921 W. Metairie Ave., Metairie, LA 70001, on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am with Mass starting at 10:30 am. Private interment to follow.
