Gloria Thurman Rohm

Gloria Thurman Rohm, aged 96, of Metairie, Louisiana died peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026. She was born on June 22,1929 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Christian Rohm, her parents, Joseph Edward Thurman and Cora Borey Thurman, and her brother Ronald Joseph Thurman. She is survived by her son, Gerald J. Rohm, daughters, Laura C. Leidinger (Myron) and Gail A. Johnson (David). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jamie R. Moore (Eric), Kate T. Rohm (Stewart), Brian H. Rohm (Caroline), Rebecca L. Ducote (Christopher), Erica M. Leidinger (Ben), Neal Johnson (Angela), and Christina J. Carrier (Joshua), 20 great grandchildren, nieces and cousins. Gloria grew up in the Lakeview neighborhood of New Orleans and graduated from McDonogh 35 High School. She lived her adult life in Metairie, Louisiana where she and her husband reared their three children. As a homemaker and mother, she was loving, giving, caring, kind and sacrificing. Gloria was always smiling, optimistic, laughing, and positive, finding joy helping other people. After her children were grown, she worked outside of the home as a receptionist at a local veterinary clinic and volunteered at East Jefferson Hospital for many years. Gloria was a devout Catholic and practiced her faith as a member of St. Clement of Rome Parish. Gloria will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans. Visitation from 11:30am to 12:30pm, followed by a Rosary, with Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00pm. Private burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Gloria's caretakers and hospice nurses for their loving service through the final years of her life.
